A full house for the CETU-ASQUAPRO short course on fibre-reinforced concrete!
On 11th May 2023, the CETU’s one-day course on the design of fibre-reinforced concrete. welcomed around twenty people keen to learn more about fibre-reinforced concrete in tunnels and put into practice the method proposed by the 2010 Model Code.
Fibre-reinforced concrete has been used for around twenty years to support underground structures, with design generally based on empirical data. More recently in France, its use has been growing for definitive shotcrete linings, as well as for replacing all or part of the reinforcement in segments: two applications that require specific calculations for design.
This day, which focused on a highly specialised technical subject, brought together a wide range of stakeholders (tunnel owners, project managers, design offices, etc.). The programme consisted of theoretical presentations in the morning, which also addressed the crucial issue of inspections, and practical computer exercises in the afternoon. The limited number of places also allowed for numerous discussions. Many expectations emerged on a range of technical topics, with more exciting days ahead!
