Railways are now included in the Tunnel Observatory’s interactive map!

The CETU is pleased to announce a major new update to its website ObservatoireDesTunnels.fr.

Following the addition of canal tunnels at the end of last year, railway tunnels are now also included on our platform!

Tunnels on the national rail network, as well as those on secondary and tourist railways, have been integrated thanks to a joint effort with SNCF Réseauand the STRMTG (French technical body in charge of the safety of ropeways and guided transport).

The site allows you to explore France’s underground assets and:

· filter by mode of transport using the icons
· search for a tunnel by name using the dedicated tool bar
· refine your selection with a search by criteria for more precise results

This website is a work in progress and is constantly being improved and updated. The next step will be to include tunnels reserved for active modes of transport (pedestrians, cycles, etc.).
