Présentation et activité de la CNESOR
The National Commission for the Assessment of Road Infrastructure Safety (CNESOR) has the following tasks:
- issuing approvals of the safety documentation of road tunnels longer than 300 metres, regardless of their tunnel owner. This approval is mandatory for preliminary documentation concerning initial construction or substantial modification works, and optional for initial or renewed requests for authorisation to officially open a tunnel to traffic;
- issuing approvals/withdrawals of approval of experts and expert bodies in the field of road infrastructure safety.
Cross-border tunnels are excluded from the commission’s remit.
The commission is composed of 23 members, including, in addition to its chair, six representatives of the State, four representatives of local authorities and twelve qualified individuals, ten of whom are appointed on the basis of their technical expertise in road tunnels or safety, and two of whom are appointed as representatives of road transport operators and road safety associations, respectively.
The technical secretariat is provided by CETU.
