A look back at the workshop on ‘Tunnels and air quality’

Design offices, operators, research organisations and equipment manufacturers met on 3rd June at CETU to discuss the issue of air quality inside and in the vicinity of tunnels and underground spaces.

Through case studies, the day provided an opportunity to take stock of pollution inside road tunnels and underground railway enclosures, to specify what types of measurements should be taken and to review the standards and recommendations in force.

The highly informative feedback from experiments conducted in Marseille, Toulon and Lyon provided a better understanding of the issues related to pollutants near road tunnel entrances, how they disperse, and how to characterise and model these emissions.

The numerous and constructive exchanges between the 70 participants made this day a great success!

The CETU would like to thank everyone who contributed to the event.
