CETU presents its BIM research at the ARCOM 2025 Conference
The Centre for Tunnel Studies (CETU) took part in the 41st ARCOM (Association of Researchers in Construction Management) International Conference, which was held at Abertay University in Dundee, United Kingdom.
The ARCOM Conference is one of the UK’s leading academic events with an international reach. It is dedicated to construction management, procurement, and innovation. Each year, it brings together researchers and academics to discuss the latest scientific and technical advances that are transforming the construction industry.
On this occasion, a CETU representative presented a scientific paper entitled « Assessing the Impact of Level of Detail for the Planning of Tunnelling Projects Using Building Information Modelling », which was carried out in collaboration with the University of the West of England (Bristol, UK).
The paper investigates how Level of Detail (LoD) influences planning outcomes using two real-world tunnel projects, with a focus on schedule prediction. The studies shows that an intermediate LoD improves reliability while optimising modelling effort. These findings help to define the conditions for the effective use of BIM in the planning and coordination of underground works.
This contribution is fully aligned with CETU’s digital transformation strategy.
