Tunnel safety officers meet in the artic!
More than 230 professionals from the road tunnel community gathered in Tromsø, Norway, from 13th to 15th April 2026, for the 8th European Forum of Tunnel Safety Officers, organised by ITA COSUF.
This year, the forum partnered with the Norwegian tunnel cluster to discuss a wide range of topics, such as artificial intelligence, the refurbishment of ageing tunnels, the use of intelligent transport systems in road tunnels, and incident detection. Technical presentations, the sharing of best practices and group discussion sessions enabled participants to identify future priorities for work on the safe operation of road tunnels, whilst technical visits allowed them to explore the Breivika and Tromsøysund tunnels.
The CETU, which chairs the ITA COSUF committee and regularly participates in the activities of the tunnel safety officers’ working group, would like to thank all the speakers, the organising team, the sponsors and our Norwegian hosts for these highly successful 8th meetings!
