The 2019 ITA COSUF award is open to candidates !

The Committee on Operational Safety of Underground Facilities (COSUF) of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) aims to improve and promote safety and security underground, through networking activities and dissemination of technical culture and new knowledge. Founded in 2005, its members include renowned international experts in this field. The CETU is heavily involved in this Committee, with Eric Premat acting as Vice Chairman, whilst several other experts participate regularly in discussions within the various activity groups and in particular the group dedicated to European tunnel safety officers.

Each year, since 2009, ITA COSUF has awarded a prize for completed outstanding research work in the area of operational safety or security of underground facilities. Students, young professionals and researchers under the age of 35 are eligible. Candidates do not have to be ITA COSUF members.

The Committee is delighted to announce that applications for the 2019 ITA COSUF award are open !

As well as receiving the prestigious award certificate, ITA COSUF will offer the winner 1,000 Euros and will cover travel and accommodation expenses to attend the award ceremony.

The award will be handed out during the ITA COSUF General Assembly in the last quarter of the year and the winner will be given the chance to present his/her work on this occasion.

Last year’s award was given to Lei Jiang for his work on Dynamics of Densimetric Plumes and Fire Plumes in Ventilated Tunnels.
